Scottish Highland Tours – Discover the Great Glen, Inverness & Culloden
Leaving Fort William on this day tour, we pass through Spean Bridge, Highland Clan Lands and Commando training country and into the Great Glen, carved out by the last Ice Age more than 10,000 years ago.
Where the mountains rise direct from deep mysterious lochs, each of the 3 fresh water lochs different to the other.
Our journey takes us alongside Loch Lochy, to the place of (The Battle of the Shirts), and onto Loch Oich the smallest of the three lochs, where we find (The Well of the Seven Heads) and its gruesome tale.
We travel to Invergarry, following and crossing the Caledonian Canal as we go,and on to the village of Fort Augustus, where we have our first sighting of the great Loch Ness.
From here we travel alongside this world famous Loch, and the chance to look for (Nessie) the Loch Ness monster.
As we drive through the City of Inverness, Capital of the Highlands, standing on the banks of the River Ness and the Moray Firth, we make our way to Culloden Moor where the last battle was fought on British soil, which ended the hopes of Bonnie Prince Charles and the Highland Jacobite Army.
The return journey can take us on a circular route taking in the Cairngorm Mountain range and some breath taking landscape scenery,traveling through highland villages, Aviemore, kingussie, Newtonmore, loch Laggan on the way back home, through remote glens and magical mountain scenery.
